Photographer Tim Hauf and writer Conger Beasley, Jr. blend their
superb talents to capture this legendary mountain and the remote
terrain of the eastern Himalaya -- Hauf with his astounding photos
of the face and texture of the mountain, Beasley with his insightful
text showcasing the people, history, flora, and fauna.
Tim Hauf has traveled to many corners of the world with a desire to create a
better understanding and appreciation of the world around us through photography.
The Himalayas have a special appeal to Tim, having returned three times since
his initial visit and trek to Everest Base Camp in 1999. This is his second book
on the Himalayas, the first one "Solu-Khumbu: The Trek to Everest" was published
in 2002.
He is currently working on a book about Eco-Tourism in distant lands.
Award-winning author Conger Beasley, Jr. has written about many
remote corners of the world, including the Himalayas, Patagonia,
the jungles of Suriname, the boreal forest of Canada, and the
Spanish Peaks of south-central Colorado. At present he is working
on a biography of a mysterious figure named Francis Schlatter, "the
Denver Messiah," who practiced as a faith-healer in the American
Southwest in the 1890s
